These are some questions that we often get asked.
I'm really inflexible, so I won't be able to do the poses will I?Yoga is a process by which we get more flexible. Everybody has poses that they find challenging. That doesn't really change no matter how long you practice, you simply move to more challenging poses. Where you really see the benefit is in your everyday life, for instance, in the garden, playing sport, or even finding you sleep more soundly. I'm a complete beginner, can I come and try a class?Of course you are more than welcome to come along and try yoga. What people find is that the very first class can be a little weird, encountering postures for the first time, or trying to remember sequences. On top of this you often discover muscles you didn't know you had, and they can be a little stiff the next day. The best way to start is to keep an open mind for 3 or 4 sessions and decide if it's for you after that. Do I have to attend every week? Not at all! We operate on a drop in basis. If you are free on a Monday or Thursday, pop along. If you normally like to come on Mondays, but are busy one week you are welcome to join us on Thursday. If you have bought a 10 class pass, the same applies, as long as you come to your 10 classes within six months of purchasing the card. I'm Christian and Yoga is incompatible with my faith isn't it?Hatha Yoga is not a religious practice. There are no deities nor articles of faith. Hatha Yoga was formulated in India over the last 1000 years and consequentially shares some language with Hinduism and Buddhism, however, central to the principals of Hatha Yoga is that it's a personal journey of self discovery. It shares many common themes with religion, for instance respect for our world and environment, compassion, truth and respect, but it is not a religion.
